The AgriTech4Egypt Innovation Challenge 2024 is now accepting applications, offering a groundbreaking opportunity for early-stage agri-tech ventures in Egypt. Powered by the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centres (CGIAR), Accelerate for Impact Platform (A4IP) and co-organised with CGIAR Centres, including the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), International Centre for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), and International Forestry Resources Institutions (IFPRI), alongside the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) of Egypt.

This initiative is endorsed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt (MOHESR). Supported by Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA), Climate Resilient Africa Fund (CRAF), ALEX Bank, Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA), and CGIAR Initiatives and units operating in the Middle East and North Africa region; the challenge promises a platform for innovation and growth in Egypt’s agriculture sector. The programme seeks ventures with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or Proof of Concept (POC), ready to embark on a journey towards market readiness. Participants will benefit from technical validation, access to markets, and support in building a robust go-to-market strategy.

The challenge is structured around key priority areas, including digital agriculture and precision farming, agri-finance solutions, sustainable value chain development, capacity-building tools, and efficient irrigation water management, ensuring alignment with Egypt’s agricultural needs. Selected applicants will gain invaluable insights into Egypt’s agricultural landscape, courtesy of a fully-funded, 4-day immersive boot camp. Moreover, they will forge connections with a diverse network of international partners and agribusinesses, tapping into expert guidance from CGIAR scientists and industry leaders. Additionally, participants will access a sponsored 6-month acceleration programme, combining entrepreneurial training and technical assistance, to propel their ventures towards scalable growth. Application deadline is April 21, 2024.
