In a clever twist on traditional commerce and agricultural transactions, a local African farmer, who cultivates crops; Mr. Edward has been captured in a video, surfaced online, for embracing the ancient payment approach at his farm produce stand. Instead of relying on the conventional exchange of cash or card transactions, the farmer has re-introduced the “old method”; bringing back the nostalgic era of trust and a secure barter system.

In the video, he said customers visiting the farm stand, located under a tree, can simply drop their payment on the table or in the sack which he placed a stone over,  even when the farmer is not present. This trust-based system relies on the honesty of buyers to leave the correct amount as tagged for the fruits, vegetables, and other produce they choose. The farmer, who declared that he had been using such a method for marketing his farm produce in the last four years, shared that he could not remember anyone stealing his money and if anyone ever did, he did not know whatever happened to such. The passer-by, who took the video praised the farmer for his creativity and for fostering a sense of mutual respect.

Many believe that this system not only streamlines the purchasing process, but also reinforces the bond between the farmer and the community. While this method of payment might seem unconventional in the world of agriculture, it serves as a testament to the farmer’s commitment to his customers and the belief in the integrity of the local community. See the video here (copied) …
