Goats are popularly known for their stubborn nature in almost every part of the world where they are reared. Sometimes, some of them feel they can eat grasses anywhere, stray away and eat anything they deem fit, especially agricultural crops, and then return home to their owners when they want. Instead of having your goats, which you are rearing in your compound to make you go for some hilarious neigbhourhood chase; there is a traditional practice among farmers, to simply catch them so they won’t get away again.

In a viral video on Facebook and Twitter, a man shared how that a wrap cloth put on the eye of a goat in a lying state can make to stop movement and not run away. The man wrote “… if your goat is troubling you, just lie it down by the side and tie cloth as if you want to use it to carry load on your head and put it on the head of the goat. The goat will remain there until you remove it”. Whether you are a small scale farmer or you just rear goats in your home, this method has been said to work on stubborn goats especially. While some believe that the act makes the livestock think they are about to be killed; others opine that the act simply makes them unconscious momentarily. To experiment this:

1. Attract the goats with some leaves or feed to a spot near you.

2. Wrap a cloth or big scarf in hand; then get the goat and make the goat to be in a lying state.

3. Put the wrap cloth on its head and eye region; make sure the wrap cloth stands well on the goat.

4. Then the goat will sleep off on the spot almost immediately.

Meanwhile, many educated locals on social media have tagged it hypnotism, which if studied and applied accordingly, will have the effect. However, it has been gathered that if a goat stays too long lying on its head on same spot; it could die. This practice should, however, be exercised with caution.

An African father with his children experiments with cloth wrapping tradition to make their goats still and immobile.
