To address the challenge of poverty and to boost food production, the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) have expressed their willingness to work together, as Nigeria is the first place among member-countries where the project is set for implementation, according to report.
The team leader of IsDB, Mr. Javed Khan, during the first supervision mission of the implementation of the special agro-industrial processing zone project in Ilorin, Kwara State, assured that Nigeria had the necessary resources to solve poverty challenges confronting the people through agriculture. Khan promised that the bank would bring its expertise and other logistics to ensure the success of the unique model in all the states where the project would be executed. The project, Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ), is prospected to train farmers on production and processing, up to the stage where the produce would be taken to markets.
