At least one person is reported dead during the heavy downpour in Makun, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
FarmingFarmersFarms gathered that the downpour also swept away motor bikes and damaged properties.
The deceased was said to be a student of Agbele Community High School, according to the uniform he had on.
Eyewitnesses said the boy fell off a bike, which was being dragged in the erosion around express junction – Dallof junction down to Awolowo down to Ogunyanwo Street to Isale Ojumele.
Residents said there had been several appeals to channel the erosion, which was always enormous into a river nearby.
Residents further recalled that houses were destroyed in the same area, many rendered homeless due to the heavy downpour that occured last year.
Nothing has, however, been done to ameliorate the situation and suffering of the people in the area.
FarmingFarmersFarms had reported that 32 states, 178 local governments will be affected by flood in 2023, according to the Federal Government.
The residents, therefore, called on the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Ajayi; the Ewusi of Makun, Oba Timothy Akinsanya; Otunba Gbenga Daniel; Hon. Dewunmi Onanuga Ijaya; Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate; amongst others, to find a lasting solution to the challenge.
