The Curt Bergfors Foundation is seeking food planet heroes, who have ideas and innovations to solve the dilemma of feeding a growing population on a warming planet, through its annual “Food Planet Prize”. This opportunity is the world’s biggest environmental prize, which requires nomination of brilliant concepts by interested and qualified candidates. Every year, the prize awards two initiatives with US$ 2 million each, to speed up and broaden their application. Nominations are usually welcome from individual persons and by proxy.
The jury of the food planet prize evaluates the nominated initiatives against six criteria, including feasibility, scalability, and potential for systemic change. Each nominee gets several opportunities to win, as this year’s nominations will also be considered for future editions of the prize. The Curt Bergfors Food Planet Prize is the largest monetary award in the global food arena and it rewards innovative solutions that can help shift to sustainable food systems within a ten-year timeframe. This foundation’s aim for the prize is to use it as a tool to encourage agents of change and promote game-changing initiatives.
